The sensitivity of gas detector decreases during use
Some chemicals will inhibit or even catalyze the combustion combustible gas alarm and cause its partial or complete loss of sensitivity. Failure can be defined as permanent failure, while inhibition is recoverable in a certain environment. In order to give full play to the performance of toxic gas detector and combustible gas detector and alarm, users should avoid using the instrument in an environment that may catalyze or inhibit the detector and alarm.
The following chemicals will reduce the sensitivity of toxic gas detector and combustible gas detector and alarm.
1. Silicon containing compounds, such as silane, silicone, and silicate. A few ppm of such substances can significantly reduce the performance of the sensor. These compounds are widely used in lubricants, cleaning agents, polishing agents, adhesives, cosmetics and drug creams, silica gel (sealing strips and sealants). Lead containing compounds, such as gasoline containing tetraethyl lead, will seriously reduce the sensitivity of the sensor, especially for compounds with high ignition point, such as methane. In addition, high concentration halogenated hydrocarbons will decompose into HCl under the high heat of the catalytic head, which may cause corrosion of the sensor and reduce the measurement signal.
2. Hydrogen sulfide and other reducing sulfur compounds, such as carbon disulfide, dimethyl disulfide, trimethyl disulfide, phospholipids and nitro compounds (such as nitroalkanes) can be oxidized into mineral acids, which will also cause corrosion to the sensor.
Hot organic acids (such as acetic acid) or direct exposure to acidic gases (such as HCl, sulfuric acid vapor) may also corrode the sensor. Halogenated hydrocarbons exist in solvents of various degreasing agents and cleaning agents. This kind of terrible halogenated hydrocarbons can also be released through overheating of polymers and PVC electrodes.
All these substances will have adverse effects on the catalytic head. Generally, silicon compounds are regarded as catalytic substances and hydrogen sulfide as inhibitory substances. However, the substances mentioned above will reduce the sensitivity of toxic gas detector and combustible gas detector alarm sensor to varying degrees. Some compounds may react at the increasing temperature on the catalytic head, and their chemical reaction mechanism is very complex.
If a gas detector needs to be used in production, it is recommended to report the service environment of the instrument to the supplier in detail and select a better detector. Hunan tuoan instrument is a manufacturer of gas detector. If you choose an instrument, you can find tuoan instrument.
